# Setting it up on your pi (or other linux system)

Setup Multicast DNS discovery of ssh in a Terminal with the [Avahi](https://wiki.debian.org/Avahi) package (usually preinstalled)

We tell the avahi daemon to publish ssh `sudo cp /usr/share/doc/avahi-daemon/examples/ssh.service /etc/avahi/services/`
    We restart the daemon to see the file: `sudo systemctl restart avahi-daemon`
    See if you can find your IP and MAC address with `avahi-browse -a`.  You may have to install the program first with `sudo apt install avahi-utils`.  If the browser doesn't show other devices, multicast is probably broken.
